From what I saw in the movies, and paid attention to, yes, they do follow classic cinema well at least two of them do. Those two include Casablanca and That Thing You Do. In Casablanca there was a good share of romance and drama whereas in Citizen Kane there was a lot of mystery and storytelling. However in That Thing You Do, it was more a story of a band of boys and their typical rise to fame through their fabulous performance of their hit song That Thing You Do. Fortunately or unfortunately (depends on how you look at it) Citizen Kane is not an example of classical cinema because the main character died in the beginning and the whole movie was about trying to figure out what or who Rosebud was. Casablanca, however, was a classical movie that showed a very good example of classical cinema.
Basic classical cinema follows a neatly laid out time line and is very predictable. For example, in That Thing You Do, the band comes together, picks a name (The Oneders (pronounce The Wonders)), becomes famous with their one hit wonder (That Thing You Do), and the guy named Guy gets the girl, named Fay.
